Phil O'Donnell Tribute Match at Celtic Park.
PHIL O’DONNELL was only 35-years-old when he died on December 29, 2007.  It was an event that will forever overshadow everything else that happened in Scottish football in season 2007/08.
Phil had used his God-given talents to the very best of his ability and had excelled at a sport, and with two clubs, that he loved, and it is a fitting tribute that a football match was held between those two clubs.
The game allowed supporters of Motherwell and Celtic, as well as fans of every club, to pay their own respects to a very fine footballer.

Fettercairn Distillery.  The village of Fettercairn is situated in the fertile Howe of Mearns at the foot of the Grampian Mountains. It is easy to see why the area was popular with illicit distillers and smugglers. The land provided the barley and water and the mountains the hiding places to avoid the excise officers.
Land owners turned a blind eye to the illegal distilling as the practice provided an outlet for the barley grown on their estates and so in turn paid their rent.
When the Excise Act was passed in 1823, it was the second distillery to be licensed.

Daffodil cultivation in the Howe of the Mearns, near Laurencekirk, Kincardineshire.
There is no official record of the development of bulb growing in Scotland as statistics relating exclusively to this crop have been collected only since 1971. However in common with the general development in Britain many town nurserymen would probably have commenced to grow bulbs for the production of flowers from 1880 onwards.
After the Second World War, when restrictions on horticultural cropping were lifted, a small number of farms took up bulb production. To the fore in this development was Mr R S M.Milne of Dykelands, Laurencekirk.

Dunnottar Castle near Stonehaven
Dunnottar Castle is a ruined medieval fortress located upon a precipitous rocky headland on the north-east coast of Scotland, about two miles south of Stonehaven. Its surviving buildings are largely of the 15th-16th centuries, but an important fortress certainly existed on this site from Dark Age times. Dunnottar played an important role in the history of Scotland from the Middle Ages through to the Enlightenment, due to its strategic location overlooking the shipping lanes to northern Scotland and also being situated on a fairly narrow coastal terrace that controlled land movements, particularly the land access to the ancient Causey Mounth, the only medieval route from the coastal south via Portlethen Moss to Aberdeen.  The site, now owned by private interests but open to the public, is visited by hundreds of thousands of tourists annually.

Houstoncolour outing on the Firth of Lorne. We sailed on Porpoise II with David Ainsley.  Visit his website (above).  We saw at close hand porpoises, dolphins, seals, deer, wild goats, eagles, a white-tailed eagle, a buzzard, puffins, gannets, guillemots and a whole range of seagulls.
The Firth of Lorne (Scottish Gaelic: An Linne Latharnach) is a body of water on Scotland's west coast, in Argyll and Bute. It lies between the Isle of Mull to the north-west and the Isles of Kerrera, Seil and Luing (the Slate Islands) along with parts of the Scottish mainland southwest of Oban on the southeast side. The firth's width ranges from 5 to 10 km. It is about 25 km long.
Tidal conditions in and around the Firth of Lorn cause a number of interesting phenomena, such as the Falls of Lora at the outlet of Loch Etive, and whirlpools and standing waves in the Gulf of Corryvreckan between Scarba and Jura.
